Biomechanics and Gait analysis

The Ipswich Foot Clinic offers a comprehensive range of biomechanical treatments. We provide conservative treatment modality for many conditions that are exacerbated by malalignment of the foot and lower limb. The assessment process relies upon a combination of modern technology but always involves hands on lower limb functional assessment and observation of gait/ walking and running.

The results from the assessment which may in addition to a full physical examination include scans, x rays, MRI’s or impressions of the foot are then reviewed by the Podiatrist and a treatment plan devised.  This may include the issue of 'in shoe' orthoses, exercises, or prescribed/ administered medication.

ORTHOSES are to the foot, what spectacles are for the eyes.

They are devices that when worn in the shoe to reduce the negative effect of malalignment or poor foot function.

The orthoses used by The Ipswich Foot Clinic are selected from many different laboratories in order to ensure the most suitable orthoses is used for your treatment. This maybe an “off the shelf” orthosis or a bespoke orthosis especially designed for you. We are not 'bound by contract' to one laboratory and are therefore in the best position to choose the most suitable device for you regardless of the Laboratory.
